💓 Feeling Overwhelmed? Try This Gentle Heart Centre Reset

Updated: Sep 8

One of my clients, a high-performing professional working at Google, came to me feeling overwhelmed and emotionally drained. He wasn’t sleeping poorly, and he was doing all the “right” things: exercising, eating well, staying productive.

But still… the tension in his body wouldn’t go away.

With the accelerated pace of work especially with AI evolving rapidly in the tech world, he noticed his system couldn’t keep up. His body felt tight. His chest heavy. His emotions, shut down.

As we worked together to release stored tension from his nervous system, I taught him a simple but powerful technique to support himself between sessions:

The Heart Centre Reset

When we’re stressed, frustrated, or emotionally overloaded, our body holds that tension often right in the chest area, or what many call the heart centre.

You might feel:

  • A sense of tightness or pressure

  • Mid-back discomfort (a sign of emotional “unsupportedness”)

  • Left arm tension (linked to the pericardium meridian, which protects the heart)

Over time, if we don’t release this emotional build-up, the body may start to signal distress — through pain, fatigue, or shutdown.

Try This:

Place 2–3 fingers on the centre of your chest.

Apply gentle pressure and slowly move in small vertical or circular strokes.

Breathe deeply and slowly for 1–2 minutes.

You may notice a subtle emotional release, or even a shift in your energy. This is your nervous system coming out of protection mode.

It’s not about fixing yourself.

It’s about reconnecting with yourself through presence, breath, and compassion.

Stress may be part of life.

But staying stuck in it doesn’t have to be.

If your body is telling you it’s time to soften, pause, or let go, listen to it.

Because emotional health begins not in your head……but in your nervous system.
